ELF VS. URBAN DECAY

Is a high-end eyeshadow primer better than a low-end primer, only because it is more expensive?  In today's society the answer is "yes".  Some people believe that if a product is more expensive it is a better product and more appealing.  But how does this thinking apply when it comes to Elf Eyelid Primer vs. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer?

Personally, I have a hard time keeping my eye makeup on all day because my eyes water constantly.  The makeup never stays unless I use eyeshadow primers. And, of course, some primers work better than others on me.  One primer that sort of worked was the Elf Eyelid Primer.  The primer felt much like the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in terms of consistency.  But for some reason this primer does not keep my eye makeup on for a full eight hours.  It did last about four to five hours, a normal evening out for me.  After the four hour mark, I could see where my makeup was starting to crease and wear off.  So while Elf is good for an evening out, I would not use it for an eight hour day at work.

When I used Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion, I found that my eye makeup lasted a little more than eight hours.  As watery as my eyes get, this primer kept my makeup looking fresh.  The consistency is a little thicker than Elf's primer, but once it goes on, you don't know it is there.  The package is a bit small, but a little bit goes a long way.  And unlike the Elf primer, the Urban Decay primer made my eyeshadow appear more pigmented.  I have gotten plenty of compliments since using this primer.  Also, the primer dries quickly (you should wait for it to dry completely before putting on your eyeshadow) making your makeup practically bulletproof.  This primer is truly amazing.

So in the end, at least in this case, you do get what you pay for.  Elf lasts about four hours before it wears off, whereas Urban Decay lasts about eight hours before wearing off.  While Elf Eyelid Primer is not a bad primer, it definitely doesn't measure up to that of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Elf Eyelid Primer retails for $1.00.  It may be purchased at www.eyeslipsface.com and www.drugstore.com.
